Jakob has wished for his father Jürgen to be out of the picture many times. Unable to hold on to a job, he keeps wasting their money on drink and permanently quarrels with Jakob’s mother, Silke. After one particularly violent fight Silke is taken to the hospital with severe burns. She wants to get away from the family and decides to simply leave Jakob and Jürgen on their own. The desperation finally leads the father to a tragic death. Afraid of being sent to an orphanage Jakob tries to hide Jürgen’s demise. The only ones left to confide in are his friends…
